Laxmi Purana Story
As per Sri Lakshmi Purana, once Goddess Lakshmi meets Shriya, a low caste woman, Lord Jagannath’s elder brother Balarama gets angry with Mother Lakshmi. On this, Mother Lakshmi curses her husband and elder brother-in-law to leave the Jagannath temple without food, water or shelter.
Every Thursday during the Odia month of Margasira, which typically falls between November and December. This festival is a ritual dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, celebrated for her blessings of wealth and prosperity.
Primarily observed by married women in Odisha. The festival involves a puja dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, who is believed to visit clean and well-kept homes during this time.
