Chenna Poda is an extremely popular sweet in Odisha, though unfortunately quite unknown in rest of India
Chhena Poda Dibasa is celebrated as a tribute to late Sudarshan Sahu of Nayagarh, who is considered as inventor of this sweet dish. Sudarshan was born on 11th April 1931
Sudarshan Sahu, the owner of a sweet shop in Nayagarh’s Dasapalla, placed sugar-infused chhena or cottage cheese with cardamon and cashew seasonings in a charcoal oven overnight and discovered an incomparably delectable delicacy the next morning, giving the state its particular identity and flavour.

He gradually developed Chhena Poda, which translates to “burned cheese with a caramelised shell.” He gave the cardamom-scented cottage cheesecake a distinct aroma by baking it wrapped in sal leaves.
