Pua Jiuntia/ Dutibahana Osha ; A festival predominantly celebrated by mothers in Western Odisha to pray for the long life, well-being, and prosperity of their children. Mothers observe a nirjwala upabasa, a strict fast for 24 hours, abstaining from both food and water.
During the fasting day of Pua Jiuntia, mothers offer 21 types of fruits and vegetables to Lord Dutibahana while praying for their children’s well-being.
Dwitiya Ghanta, also called Pua Jiuntia Ghanta or Dutia Ghanta, is a traditional mixed-vegetable curry from Odisha. It is specifically prepared on the day following the Pua Jiuntia festival, when mothers break their strict 24-hour fast.
