Sudasha Brata Puja Vidhi in Odia

Sudasha Vrata is a unique fast observed in Odisha. When the Dashami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha falls on a Thursday in Odia, it is observed as Sudasha Vrata and has a rare combination of ten. Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped in it.
For the well-being of the family, Sudasha Vrata is mainly observed by women. The main ritual is for women to worship a white thread of ten white threads tied in their hands. That thread is worn on their arms until the next Sudasha Vrata and is changed during the next Sudasha Vrata.
During the worship, ten-petalled lotus, ten-colored Muruj, ten-faced lamp, ten-mouthed rice, ten-fingered banana, and ten-headed manda are worshipped. Ten knots are made on the thread, and ten different names of Goddess Lakshmi are chanted.
First knot – Lakshmi Narayan, Second knot – Kamalini, Third knot – Shri Haripriya
Fourth knot – Padmalaya, Fifth knot – Kamala, Sixth knot – Chanchala, Seventh knot – Vighnaseni
Eighth knot – Sindhur Dullani, Ninth knot – Durgati, Tenth knot – Vishnu Patrani
The women keep the thread in their hands until the next Sudasha Vrata, when it is replaced by a new vow. This is observed only by Odia women (Hindu).
