Bihar Govt School Calendar 2026
The Bihar government’s Education Department has released the annual holiday calendar for the academic session 2026 for all government, state-run, government-aided, project, upper primary, secondary, and senior secondary schools (including Sanskrit schools, Urdu schools, and Madrasas). According to the notification issued by the Director (Secondary Education), Sanjay Rao, students will receive a total of 75 days of holidays in 2026, including 10 Sundays. The holiday calendar includes all major festivals, from Makar Sankranti to Diwali, Chhath Puja, and the winter break. The department has instructed all District Education Officers to ensure that schools operate according to this calendar.

The important holidays scheduled for the year 2026 are as follows:
Makar Sankranti: January 14
Basant Panchami: January 23
Republic Day: January 26 (School closed after the program)
Sant Ravidas Jayanti: February 1
Maha Shivaratri: February 15
Holi Holidays: March 3 and 4
Summer Vacation: June 1 to June 20 (Total 20 days, including two Sundays)
Durga Puja Holidays: October 17 to October 21 (Total 5 days)
Diwali-Chhath Holidays: November 7 to November 17 (Total 10 days, including Diwali, Chitragupta Puja, and Chhath)
Winter Vacation: December 25 to December 31 (Total 7 days)
The dates of Muslim festivals may change depending on the sighting of the moon.
