Jailer 2 Hasn’t Released

Jailer 2 hasn’t released as a full film yet  so there are no official critic reviews of the complete movie. What you are seeing everywhere right now are teaser / promo reviews and early buzz.

Here is where things stand as of today:

The basics
Release date locked: 15 October 2026 (Dussehra week) — worldwide release announced by Sun Pictures
Director: Nelson Dilipkumar, Music: Anirudh Ravichander, Production: Sun Pictures
Lead: Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vinayakan, and rumored cameos including S J Suryah and Hrithik Roshan in reports
OTT business already huge 160 cr Amazon Prime deal vs 100 cr for Jailer 1, per trade reports circulating on social
Teaser Reviews — what people are actually reviewing now
The 4-minute announcement teaser dropped in Jan 2025 (Makar Sankranti promo) and a second explosive teaser dropped for the Oct 2026 date announcement.

Consensus online: overwhelmingly positive, mass-focused.

Fans praised high-octane action, Rajinikanth’s swag/entry, and Anirudh’s BGM being called “god-level”
Trade pages note the teaser deliberately hides Rajinikanth’s face (only his back) to recreate mystery, focusing on scale multiplication from the first film’s 600 cr worldwide gross
The teaser got 13M views in 48 hours and crossed 7 lakh views in under 24 hours on its initial drop
Comment sections are full of: “Power of Director Nelson, Composer Anirudh and Thalaiva”, fire emojis for BGM, and 1000 cr box-office predictions

Typical fan reactions quoted by news roundups:

“Great Announcement, the top-grossing movie of 2025 loading”
“Rajinikanth the real superstar… Excited for both Jailer 2 & Coolie”
Early ratings & criticism
On Sacnilk, pre-release user rating is showing 4.6/10 from 86 users — but this is just early hype voting before release, not a critic score

Two controversies are shaping reviews:
A-certificate issue: Instagram news posts report Jailer 2 reportedly received an ‘A’ (adults-only) certificate from CBFC, with stories that makers are debating cuts to get U/A for family audience. The poster used shows Rajinikanth in blood-splattered shirt with rifle and explosions
Song promo backlash: First song promo ‘Ala Bolelo’ triggered anger in Kerala over mispronounced Malayalam lyrics, with debate carrying over to August promo coverage
How this compares to Jailer 1 reviews
For context, original Jailer (2023) got:

Indian Express: 3.5/5
Fan reviews were polarized — some called it Rajinikanth’s best since Sivaji, others called it average but saved by Anirudh. Rajinikanth himself said at the success meet: “I watched the film without re-recording… it was average… Anirudh lifted the film — My God”
For Jailer 2, Suraj Venjaramoodu (who joined the cast) is quoted on social saying “Jailer 2 has come out superb” compared to Part 1, but full critic reviews will only come after Oct 15
