Subhadra Yojana Eligibility Criteria

Subhadra Yojana is a flagship scheme by the Government of Odisha, implemented through the Department of Women and Child Development, to empower women with direct financial assistance of ₹10,000 per year (in two instalments of ₹5,000 each), totaling ₹50,000 over 5 years (2024-25 to 2028-29).

Key Eligibility Criteria

To qualify as a beneficiary, a woman must meet all of the following conditions (based on official guidelines and consistent sources as of 2026):

  • Gender: Must be a woman (married, unmarried, widows, or divyang women are eligible if other criteria are met).
  • Age: Between 21 and 60 years as verified by Aadhaar (for the initial phase, often referenced as born between approximately July 2, 1964, and July 1, 2003, for 2024-25; women turning 21 later may get pro-rated benefits for remaining years, but those turning 60 after the start may have limited eligibility).
  • Residency/Domicile: Must be a permanent resident of Odisha.
  • Economic Status (one of the following):
    • Covered under NFSA (National Food Security Act) or SFSS (State Food Security Scheme) – i.e., holding a priority household ration card or similar.
    • If not covered under NFSA/SFSS, the annual family income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh (₹2,50,000).
  • Aadhaar and Banking: Must have a valid Aadhaar card (for e-KYC) and an Aadhaar-linked bank account for direct benefit transfer (DBT).
  • Other Inclusions: Daughters of Anganwadi workers/helpers may be eligible in some cases; widows and divyang women receiving certain allowances are generally included.

Ineligibility/Exclusions (Who Cannot Apply or Receive Benefits)

The scheme targets economically weaker sections, so the following are not eligible:

  • Women who are government employees (including contractual/outsourced in some interpretations, but salaried government jobs are strictly excluded).
  • Income tax payers.
  • Women receiving ₹1,500 or more per month (or equivalent higher annual amounts like ₹18,000+ yearly scholarships/assistance) from other state/central government schemes.
  • Women from wealthy/high-income families (beyond the ₹2.5 lakh family income cap where applicable).
  • Non-residents of Odisha.
  • Age below 21 or above 60 (except limited pro-rated cases).

Note: Multiple eligible women in one family (e.g., mother and daughter) can all receive benefits if they individually qualify—no family cap in most cases.
