The Evilminded Servant Story

 Birbal , the wisest of all courtiers in the court of Akbar , was having a walk . When he turned the corner of a market he was met by

a rich merchant . The merchant said , ” Sir , there has been a theft in my house . I suspect one of my servants to be the thief . Kindly help me , Sir” .

Birbal called all the servants and gave them each a stick of the some length and said , ” This is a magic stick . When this is in the hands of the thief it will grow by an inch a day . Let us see tomorrow ” .

The servant who had stolen thought , ” If I cut the stick by an inch , tomorrow it will be of the original length ” . So , he cut the stick by an inch .

The next day , Birbal assembled the servants and found the stick of the thief – servant to be shorter . He said , ” You are thief . The stick I gave was just an ordinary stick . Your evilmind has betrayed you ” .
