Purple Turtle Children Story
Purple, Biggy, and Zing were walking the steep
steps of the Great Wall of China.
“The Great Wall is amazing,” exclaimed Purple.
It was built to keep invaders out of the country,
years ago.”
Chomp! Chomp!
Biggy heard some munching sound.
He looked over to see a small little panda with a
big shoot of bamboo in his hand.
When the panda bear spotted three of them,
he stopped eating.
“Hi, my name is Ni Hao. That’s hello in Chinese.
Welcome to the Great Wall of China,” said Ni Hao.
“Is anyone hungry? I can share some of my
bamboo shoots.”
Biggy said to himself that the little panda was a
real talker.
“Hi! I am Biggy,” pointing towards his friends,
Biggy said, “Meet my friends, Purple and Zing.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Ni Hao.” greeted the
friends.
“I live here in the forest. Do you want to see my
home?” Said Ni Hao.
Purple said “Oh! I always wondered where the
pandas lived. It would be fun.”
So, Ni Hao’s new friends walked into the forest.
Vroom Vroom… A tree fell to the ground. Thump!
Then another one. Thump! A big yellow bulldozer
was at work.
“It is sad that people are cutting down the trees,”
said Purple. “They are so important they help
hold the soil and provide shade.”
Biggy added,“Trees provide homes for animals.”
Suddenly, Ni Hao stopped munching on his
bamboo. “Where is my home? Where is my
mama?” he said. An open field stood where once
Ni Hao’s home had been!
The baby panda started crying.
Purple hugged Ni Hao. “Don’t be sad, we will help
you find your mama.”
Ni Hao sniffled. “Mama told me if I ever got lost, I
must go and see the Wise Old Panda. He lives up
there, on that high mountain in the forest,” pointed
Ni Hao.
“Then, that’s where we will go,” Purple said.
As the friends walked, they smelled smoke. The
workers were burning tree branches. Zing saw
white smoke curl into the sky.
“Achoo!” Zing sneezed from all the smoke.
“All that ss-smoke is making my eyes ww-water.”
Biggy shook his head. “Don’t people know that
smoke gets into the air. Then, it gets into our lungs
when we breathe It’s not healthy!”
Climbing higher, they passed a river. Lots of
paper trash, an old tire and an old shoe were
floating along.
“Trash doesn’t belong in our waters! Why do
people pollute?” wondered Purple.
Heavy smoky clouds covered the forest.
As they reached the mountain top,
Ni Hao spotted a panda.
“Are you the wise old panda?” he
asked.
“Yes my dear! I am Xie Xie,” said the
wise old panda.
“I’m lost. Few men destroyed my home
while I was away. Mama said if I ever
got lost, I should ask you for help,” said
Ni Hao.
“You have come to the right place. This is a
reserve for Pandas. Your mama is safe here.
Come with me,” said the wise old panda as he
took all of them deeper into the forest.
Purple, Zing and Biggy smiled as they could help
Ni Hao meet Xie Xie.
Soon, Ni Hao saw his mama and started
jumping. “Look, there is my mama! Thank
you, Purple, Biggy and Zing. I couldn’t have
reached here without your help. You are great
friends.”
The friends smiled as they were happy to help.
“Please accept my bag of bamboo as a
gift,” said Ni Hao.
Mama panda was pleased to have found
Ni Hao. She thanked Purple and his friends
as they brought her baby safely to the
reserve.

The Stolen Wells Story Tenali Raman
Tenali Raman And The Stolen Wells
One year, in the kingdom of Vijaynagar, the monsoon season was poor. The King ordered one of his ministers to dig fresh wells all over the kingdom so that his people would not suffer during the hot summer season.
A lot of money was given to the minister for this important job.
After a few weeks the minister reported back to the King, “Your Majesty, wells have been dug all across the land just as you ordered.”
The King went around the city with the minister to inspect the wells himself.
He was pleased to see that they were well made and full of water.
However, during summer, some villagers came to the capital, desperate to meet the King.
But no one would let these poor people into the palace. Finally they decided to meet Tenali Raman and ask him for help.
The villagers told Raman that they had no water in their village.
They said, “We complained to the minister, but in vain! We want to meet the King but the palace guards won’t let us in.”
When Raman asked about the wells th at the minister had built, they replied sadly, “There is no sign of any well in our village.’
Raman promised to help them.
The next day in court, Raman told the King that there had been a theft of wells in a village.
The King didn’t believe him, so Raman said, “The villagers themselves are waiting outside, ask them.”
The villagers were brought before the King.
One of them bowed and said, “Your Majesty, we have come all the way to tell you that the wells made by the minister have disappeared. Now, we are suffering without water. Please come and see for yourself.”
The King agreed, and went to the village along with the minister and Raman. Sure enough, there were no wells to be seen.
Then, the King went around his kingdom and was angry to find that wells had been dug only in the capital city and the surrounding villages.
The villages further away had been left without a single well.
The King understood that the cunning minister had taken some of the money for himself instead of using it for digging wells.
He immediately ordered the minister to build a hundred wells in the villages far with his away own money.
Raman supervised the work and got it completed quickly. All the villagers thanked him for his help.
Where is God English Story
Once upon a time, there lived remote part of West Bengal. He was pious and had many disciples. Once a sage in a Every morning he would sit beneath a tree outside his ashram and preach to his disciples.
Every day, one of his disciples, Madan would ask, “Sir, where is God?” and each time the sage would reply, “Look around you. Don’t you see him?” But Madan could not understand.
Finally one day, Madan said, “Sir, you always ask me to look around for God. I have been looking and have not seen God as yet!”
The sage smiled and said, “Madan, God is everywhere. He is in everything and in everyone. God is in you and in me. He is in each animal and flower. You just have to look carefully and you’ll see!” Madan was taken aback by the sage’s statement and decided to try and look more carefully.
That evening as he was walking back home, he reflected on the sage’s words. “God is in everything? He is in me? How is that possible?” he thought. All of a sudden, he heard some noise behind him.
Madan jumped up in fright. He turned around and saw an elephant running amuck. It saw Madan and charged towards him. The mahout screamed, “Get out of the way! It has gone mad, move!”
“God is supposed to be everywhere. That means God is in the elephant. God will not hurt me as he is in me too. I don’t have to move because the elephant will not hurt me!” so thinking, Madan stood rooted in the middle of the road.
The elephant reached him in no time. It picked him up and threw him in the air. Luckily for Madan, he landed in a haystack and suffered only a few bruises. He could not understand why the elephant had attacked him and was very confused.
The next morning Madan set out as usual to meet the sage. He narrated all that had happened and continued, “Sir, you told me that God was in everything. Then why did the elephant attack me?”
smiled and replied, “Madan, you were right to think that god is in that elephant. The sage But you forgot that God was also in the mahout who was telling you to get out of the way!”
“Why didn’t you listen to him when he told you that the elephant had gone mad?” he continued. Madan did not know what to say. He had finally learnt his lesson. He realized that though God is present in everything, God has given everything a will of its own.
The elephant wanted to attack him and so did. The mahout wanted to help and so warned him. He on the other hand wanted to stand in the way and so, no matter how much he was warned, he stayed and was hurt. He understood that he should not take things for granted.
